Can Face Yoga cause wrinkles?

Face Yoga can help you control and minimize the forming of facial wrinkles. However, when done incorrectly, Face Yoga can cause wrinkles.

Since expressing our emotions comes naturally, we do not often think about facial muscles and their movements that make it possible.

For those who are just beginning their Face Yoga journey, it is important to understand that Face Yoga is a lot more than doing a lot of uncontrolled facial movements that can stretch and wear out your skin. It’s a technique which activates every muscle of your face and teaches you how to control them consciously.

The trick, is to create resistance and opposite resistance using our facial muscles.

The key is to make sure there are NO WRINKLES on your skin no matter what exercise you’re doing.

 

Doing Face Yoga incorrectly is counter-effective because you may be training one part of the face, but creating new wrinkles on other areas at the same time.

To avoid this, we recommend using your hands to keep skin and muscles in place. The pressure and extra “weight” your hands allows muscles to work harder and prevents forming additional wrinkles. If you are older and there is excess skin on your face, you can still see some lines while doing the exercise. In this case, simply adjust the pose and smooth them out by using your fingers.

The key is to gradually activate facial muscles thru slow and controlled movements.

Keeping your facial muscles active and strong is important because they are firmly connected and always influence each other. That’s why using just one exercise, you found on the internet won’t necessarily do the trick. You can only achieve lasting results by following the right sequence of exercises. Face yoga workouts should be harmonious and cover your entire face instead of just focusing on specific ‘problem’ areas.
